This weekend, I spent some time at the Long Beach Comic Expo, which was once again a great event. Today, I wanted to share with you some of the cosplay I was able to photograph at the show. It’s a short list, but here are a few favorites:

Attending a comic convention for the first time can be a bit daunting. The large halls, the costumed people, bright and shiny merchandise, and a handful of famous people can be a bit overwhelming if it’s something you have yet to experience. That’s why today, I’d like to share some insight on what to expect at your first comic convention.

People love any reason to dress up. We’re in the business, so we would know. It’s no wonder we’re seeing fun runs on the rise all throughout the country. These fun challenges usually consist of 5k courses with a specific theme and one of the great things that we noticed that a lot of the themes are based around costumes! That’s why today, we wanted to share with you a few fun runs you need to try in your lifetime. (Because health, charity, and costumes!)

We know the year may have just started, but we’re already hosting our first giveaway of 2016! We know a lot of our customers love costumes and characters. That’s why we’re combining both by giving you the ultimate cosplay experience! If you’re 18 years old or older and live in Southern California, we’re giving you a chance to win a pair of weekend passes to the Long Beach Comic Expo which will be held February 20-21, 2015.

As we mentioned in a previous post, June is LGBT Pride Month which means there will be plenty of parades, rallies, and gatherings throughout the country. Aside from the camaraderie and encouragement you’ll experience from one of these events, one of the things that make Pride Parades such a fun gathering are the costumes

The 2016 WonderCon at the Los Angeles Convention center was their biggest yet. Saturday tickets sold out weeks before the event, but luckily, we were able to score Sunday tickets and attend. Immediately upon arrival, the entire convention center was packed with cosplayers and attendees.

With the recent premiere of the highly anticipated fifth season of American Horror Story: Hotel, there’s been a lot of interest in allegedly haunted hotels. All across the country, there are eerie establishments which offer lodging to the brave and non-superstitious. Today we want to share with you some of these infamous hotels to get you in the mood for Halloween.

This week, the Star Wars Celebration is coming to Anaheim, CA! Lucky for us SoCal folk, that means that the biggest Star Wars fan convention will be right in our backyard. If this is the first time you’re hearing about this event, the Star Wars Celebration is the official Star Wars fan convention.

All across the country, people are using their Thanksgiving time off to raise money for charities with events known as “Turkey Trots.” Just as football and dinner are part of the annual tradition, Turkey Trots are becoming more and more popular each year.

Turkey Trots are coming to a town near you! As marathons and fun runs gain popularity as a way to promote health and raise funds for charity, there are more and more events popping up every day. Last month, it was all about zombie walks while this month is all about turkey trots. These events really put the “fun” in fundraising and if you’re interested in joining the fun, here’s a list of the local turkey trot events near Los Angeles!

As we’ve been known to say, the holiday season is a great time to give and this year, we’re participating in some holiday giving in our community. Every year, the cities of El Monte and South El Monte team up to host the Ms Friendly Pageant which awards scholarship funds to young women in the area.

Costume season may be over for most people, but here in California, there are still plenty of events to suit up for. In fact, next week, Disneyland will be hosting their Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend. From November 12-15, runners will head over to the “greatest place on Earth” to race for a cause.
