What to Wear: Renaissance Fair Costumes for the Family
I opted for a peasant look to keep things low-key. I chose the Renaissance Wench costume by California Costumes. They’re known for having great quality and I really liked the design. When I tried it on, I noticed that there is a slit in between the top and the skirt which I later realized is for the strap which you can use to create a slit in the skirt. What’s great about it is that you can wear it with (as pictured in the product photo) or without the strap (like what I have below). It actually comes with two straps so you can wear it cinched on either side.
When it came to my husband, he has a stockier build so I had to choose a plus size costume. I was looking for something versatile so I’m going to let you in on a costume hack. Instead of getting a Renaissance costume, I picked out a pirate costume for him! He’ll be using the top, wrist cuffs, and boot covers with his own pants to create a peasant costume. And as a bonus, if we decide to visit during one of the pirate-themed days, he’ll have a costume for that too!
