The advertisements are everywhere and fans are already raving about the Deadpool sequel. Everyone is excited about it, including my two elementary-school-aged nephews. The problem is, if you know anything about Deadpool, you’ll know that he’s not exactly kid-friendly. His comics are known for extreme violence, crude humor, foul language, and sexual behavior. The funny thing is that one of the earliest exposures I had with Deadpool was when I was watching him fight Spider-Man in a cartoon with my young nephews. He appeared on the screen and engaged in silly banter with Spidey in the midst of a full-on fight. I asked them who the character was and they knew all about him. When we heard there was a movie about him coming out, we were all excited. They even asked their mom and I to take them to go see it. However, upon learning that the movie was rated R, we were a little hesitant. It is okay to take a child to see an R-rated movie?

The 2018 Oscars are coming up on March 4th. It's time to celebrate all of our favorite movies that have been released in the past year. If you're anything like me, you: (A) LOVE movies. I LOVE movies, big productions movies, small production movies, even movies that are actually terrible but they're so terrible they end up with a cult following. (B) really enjoy planning parties. Considering the previous statements about myself, it's very surprising that I've actually never thrown an Oscar Watch Party. I did some brain storming, because an Oscar party sounds like a lot of fun, and I came up with a few great ideas to help you host your own Oscar Viewing Party.

Happy Autumn, everybody! Summer will officially be over this month but that doesn't mean it's time to stay in. There are plenty of new theatrical releases to look forward too. Check out our Fall movie releases infographic to see what's in store! There are plenty of scary movies just in time for Halloween like The Nun, Hell Fest, and Halloween. But I'm personally looking forward to seeing A Simple Favor, because I love Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, and of course I can't wait for Ralph Breaks the Internet!

With TV shows Luke Cage and Black Lightning, and film characters like Black Panther and Cyborg, it's clear Black superheroes are having a big moment. For the first time, members of the Black community are seeing an abundance of representation in comic material on screen and we don't want this moment to end! Black History Month is almost here, so I thought it would be the perfect time to highlight some Black superheroes I'd love to see on screen!

2017 saw a ton of movie reboots from childhood favorites like Beauty and the Beast and Power Rangers, to classics like Baywatch and IT. This year, we'll see even more reboots and spin-offs in the box office and everyday we get news of even more reboots being planned! While we already know a lot about most of the reboots for 2018, there are a few movies with the information mostly coming from rumors and speculation. Here are a few I'm interested to learn more about and what we know so far.

Christmas is right around the corner. Get yourself in the holiday spirit by making a delicious cup of hot cocoa, get those slippers or cozy socks on, and curl up with your favorite blanket to watch your favorite Christmas movies. My favorite thing to get myself in the Christmas spirit is to wrap my Christmas gifts or do my holiday baking while watching my favorite Christmas movies.

It's getting closer and closer to the best time of the year, Halloween! Halloween is not only the time for fun costume parties and tricks and treats, it's also the perfect time to dust off those old scary slasher films and give 'em a watch, if you're into that kind of thing anyway. Better yet, throw a classic slasher costume party this Halloween and your party will be unforgettable.
